“You don’t choose the cat, the cat chooses you.”
Davy, a social worker for children with disabilities, was looking for a pet to adopt when his friends started tagging him in a Facebook post about Arlo, a cute tabby cat with hydrocephalus who longed for a forever home.
“I live alone in a little rural cottage and thought it would be ideal for an older cat. But my friends began to tag me in posts from Cats Protection, about this little cat with additional needs,” Davy shared.
He quickly went to the Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre in South Wales to meet Arlo and had his heart stolen by the kitten. When the tiny shelter kitten saw Davy, it walked up to him and gave him a lick as if to tell him to take it home.
“He approached and gave me a lick, and I took that as a sign that we made a match,” Davy said. “Just the first glance of him made me fall in love.”
Arlo was born with a few birth defects, but thankfully he was healthy. Despite his condition, he never lets it stop him and just wanted to be loved and cared. “Arlo is such a lovely cat and deserves a happy and loving home.”
“Arlo is an absolute sweetheart, and he’s charmed all the staff at the centre,” Sue Dobbs, Manager of Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre, said. “He may look a bit different from other cats, but he’s got a lot of love to give, and is full of fun and mischief.”
Arlo went to his new home and quickly came out of his shell. He really loves being cuddled and hugged. It is clear that he loves his dad so much.
“He’s very shy and nervous still, and doesn’t like loud noises. But he’s so loving,” Davy shared. “His personality is amazing. He’s such a character.”
