Cat With A Broken Bone Was Rescued And Given A Second Chance At Life

February of this year, Hope For Paws got an email about a cat who was in a terrible condition. He had a broken bone sticking out of his skin and needed to be treated immediately. After receiving the news, a volunteer named JoAnn Wiltz rushed to the scene to rescue the cat. At that time, every minute was precious with her and the poor cat.

The cat was nervous and easily frightened around strangers so the girls who live there put him in a box. JoAnn managed to catch the cat, but he was scared and refused to let her touch him. Thankfully, with the help of the girls, she finally put the cat in a cage. She decided to name him Apple and quickly took him to Smart Approach Vet and Cares to get his leg checked out.

After checking up, Dr. Antonio Pedraza said that Apple was 5 years old. He needed a surgery to fix his broken leg and help him walk again. With his situation, other vets can do an amputation, but Dr. Antonio chose another option for him. He and his team presented with a patellar luxation. This method will decrease the ability of Apple to jump in the future, but it will keep his legs and help him walk again.

Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Apple’s leg was saved. Thank you Smart Approach Vet and Cares and Dr. Antonio for saving the poor cat. He then was taken care of by volunteers at Kitty Bungalow, a feral cat rescue and socialization facility in LA. We are happy to know that his legs and his health are recovering nicely.

We can literally see through Apple’s eyes how grateful he is. We can’t even imagine the pain he must have been in before he was rescued and treated. Thank you so much to everyone involved in rescuing little angel. He is now cared and loved by great people. We hope that he will walk again and find his forever home soon. Apple will make someone so very happy!
